Group Member | Amount Raised – for example, “F | 8” would indicate a Female Founder with a successful exit.
Founder / Founding Team:
B – Black / African American Founder or member of founding team (7%)
F – Female Founder or Member of founding team (27%)
H – Hispanic Founder or member of founding team (2%)
V – Veteran Founder or member of founding team (12%)
X – Founder is underrepresented, but outside of the above groups (8%)
Z – Founder is not a member of any of the above groups (45%)
Multiple Letters Signify Multiple Founders. For example “FV” indicates multiple founders with one being a Female and another being a Veteran. If a founder is a member of multiple under represented groups, only one group is noted. The percentages noted are of the total number of founders in the Alumni group.
The numbers below signify the level of funding raised outside of initial founder funding (as of Q3 2020)
1 – no capital raised outside of founder investment (30%)
2 – raised $1 – $50k (20%)
3 – raised $50k – $250k (33%)
4 – raised $250k – $500k (5%)
5 – raised $500k – $1M (5%)
6 – raised $1M – $5M (3%)
7 – raised > $5M (5%)
8 – Successful Exit / Acquired / IPO (5%)
9 – No Exit / No longer operating (18%)
