Northern Nevada Tribal Entrepreneurial Development Program

The StartUpNV Tribal Entrepreneurial Development Program is a 5-week entrepreneur education
program designed for first-time entrepreneurs to evolve “venture worthy” projects from an idea into a
business and then attract pre-seed angel investment. The program consists of five core modules:
Ideation, Position, Commit, Refine, and Launch. Participants attend sessions twice a week over a period

Module 1: Ideation. Every successful enterprise begins with an idea. In the ideate module, founders will
develop and refine their business idea.
Session 1: The Entrepreneurial Lifestyle and Journey
Session 2: Idea to Business
Module 2: Position. In this module, founders will explore strategies to identify and evaluate opportunities
for business startup and growth. This includes learning how to conduct market research to understand
their customers, competitors, and industry.
Session 3: Knowing Your Customers and Market
Session 4: Business Model and Pricing Strategy
Session 5: Legal Strategy and Entity Formation
Module 3: Commit. Founders will begin the detailed planning needed to bring their product or service to
market. This includes learning how to distribute or sell their product or service and how to project future
sales and costs.
Session 6: Go to Market and Distribution
Session 7: Sales and Financials
Module 4: Refine. In the Refine module, founders will write and refine the business plan that will guide
the launch of their business. This includes building their organizational structure, understanding the
difference between cash flow and profits, and how to project cash flow. Additionally, founders will
identify their business funding needs and goals and explore the most appropriate sources of funding.
Session 8: Building the Organization and Team
Module 5: Launch. In this module, founders will determine whether they are ready to launch their
businesses. They will also be introduced to concepts and processes that will enable them to build a
thriving business and prepare to pitch to their community.

Session 10: Pitch Practice and Feedback
Program Conclusion: Demo Day. The program concludes with participants delivering an 8-minute pitch
at a public Demo Day in their community. Pitching at Demo Day is mandatory for graduation from the
